Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas offers a comprehensive insurance plan known as Series III. This plan allows individuals to customize it according to their needs and budget. The Series III Products contain three different plans: Blue Advantage, Choice, and Saver. However many of the features in the Series III products are the same. For instance, all three plans have 24-hour worldwide care, as well as a three-tier prescription drug program. Series III products also include surgical and medical expenses, inpatient hospitalization services, child care up until the child turns eight, and preventive care. Preventive care includes diagnostic tests, immunizations and physicals.
The Series III products offered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas allow members to access BlueChoice which is one of the largest networks for providers in Texas. The BlueChoice network allows its members to save on the cost of covered services and on premiums when they use a specialist, doctor or hospital within the network. Primary care physicians are not mandatory, and members do not need a referral in order to see a specialist. Series III plans may be ideal for someone who needs coverage for prescription medication, regularly visits a doctor, or for someone who needs a flexible insurance plan.
There are a few costs that are common in the Series III plans of Blue Cross Blue Shields Texas Health Insurance plans. One such expense is co-payments for office visits. These payments are up to 75 percent of the allowable amount. The health insurance plan pays 75 to 85 percent of coinsurance amounts, and members pay 15 to 25 percent. This takes place after the deductible is met. Also included with Series III products is BlueCard PPO benefits. These plans contain easy claims processing, so in most cases there are no forms to file. One other feature included is organ and tissue transplant coverage.
Further customization is available for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas Series III plans. Two features that can be added are the prescription drug coverage plan and the dental indemnity plan. The prescription drug coverage includes co-payments for prescription drugs. These co-payments are based on the options chosen for each insurance plan. The dental indemnity plan is available on an individual level, and has an additional premium. This plan provides coverage for the individual, as well as their spouse or any dependents, including children. The deductibles for this plan do not apply to x-rays, sealants, cleaning, fluoride treatments or oral exams.
